RESPECT YOURSELF • RESPECT YOUR ENVIRONMENT • RESPECT EVERYONE IN YOUR ENVIRONMENT
1. Show Respect: Always show respect to your instructor, teammates, and Academy guest.
2. Get our attention: During class times at the Academy, please address the Black Belt Instructor as “Professor” and all non-black belt instructors as “Coach”.
3. No Outside Coaching: Please do not give instruction to other students or your children while they are training on the mats. Outside coaching is distracting and can lead to contradictions of the instruction given by the class instructor.
4. Mat Readiness: Before the class begins, the mat is open for light stretching only. No drilling, sparring, or other martial arts training is allowed until the class instructor has officially begun class.
5. Mindful Posture: Please sit or stand in a mindful posture when lined up or receiving instruction.
6. Late Arrivals: If you are late and class has begun, please wait at the edge of the mat until the instructor has invited you to join training. Do not run across the mat as the instructor is addressing the class or giving instruction.
7. Uniform Standards: No bare chest in the Academy. Please wear a rash guard under your uniform if you would like to remove your Gi top in the open area. If you do not have a rash guard or t-shirt under your Gi top please use the restroom or changing room to change in and out of your uniform.
8. Footwear Policy: Please wear footwear into the Academy. We strive to keep the mats as cleans as possible; coming into the Academy with bare feet from the outdoors is a health risk.
9. Mat Boundaries: No shoes, food, or drinks on the mat. Footwear should be worn in all restrooms.
10. Health & Safety: Please do not train or come into the academy if you are not well or have been in continuous close contact with someone that is not well.
11. Personal Hygiene: Please keep nails trimmed, hair in a manageable position, and body free of heavy odors.
12. Gear Maintenance: All uniforms should be clean and free of any rips, tears, or stains. Only authorized team and affiliate patches are to be worn at the Academy. Visiting students may wear their team patches during short term visits.
13. Technique Integrity: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has many techniques with many details, with respect to any physical limitations or injury, please drill the techniques as taught by the instructor.
14. Academy Cleanliness: At the conclusion of class, please help keep your Academy clean by removing all personal items. All items left overnight will be placed in the “lost and found” bin.
